Sunday Bob Fest

I've always like pop sensation Sara Bareilles.  I first came across her in iTunes - her song "Love Song" was actually one of the free singles of the week - can you believe it!  Anyway, her song shot to #1 as the most downloaded song and well, the rest is history.

This is one my favorite songs from Sara Bareilles and you know I love stripped down, raw and acoustic versions.

Sunday Bob Fest

Soooo in the mood for some Brooke Fraser... A double treat this week!  I love Arithmetic cos its just a great song, but the MTV for Without You is so awesome I had to share it.

"I wouldn't be the same without you".  Like her video, I could sing this to sooo many people cos really I am who I am not because of any one special person, its you, and you, and you and yes you.

Sunday Bob Fest

So anyone who knows me knows I love The Bird and the Bee - an electronic duo from California with the wonderful vocal stylings of Inara George.  So recently, as of March this year, they released a new album "Interpreting the Masters: Vol. 1 (A tribute to Hall and Oates)".  Everyone loves an oldie, an oldie done new school, now that is just brilliant.

Sunday Bob Fest

An oldie but a goodie.  Scottish band Camera Obscura brings us "Suspended from Class".

"I should be suspended from class... I don't know my elbow from my arse..."

Hmmm echoes exactly how I feel about MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING!  But at least the professor's a looker.  That's probably the only reason I'm still awake in class.

Sunday Bob Fest

Since the advent of Marie Digby (or arguably even way before that), there have been lots of YouTube singers.  Admittedly some of them suck big time and should probably never pick up an instrument ever again.  Then I came across Julianna Daily.  I've always enjoyed acoustic sounds, there's just something raw and genuine in an acoustic guitar.  So I'm one of her many thousands of subscribers and I'd just thought you should check her out.  Here's her entry for an Ingrid Michaelson contest.  I love Ingrid Michaelson too!

Sunday Bob Fest

In the spirit of all things Gaga, I found this stripped down version of Pokerface by Lady G herself!

Is anyone else reeling in her awesomeness?

Lady Freakin Gaga...

The internet's a-buzzing with Lady Gaga's new video!  And boy was it awesome.  It was everything I expected from Lady Gaga herself and so much more.  Yes as you can see I am a big fan... what's there not to love?  She's part circus sideshow act, part avant garde performer.  There's everything you could want in this video, from Gaga making reference to her hermaphrodite anatomy to her dressed in nothing but crime scene tape to Gaga making sapphic phone calls to Beyonce "Honey B".

Oh and not to spoil the end for you, they end up killing everyone.  At least they said to be continued... And as Gaga puts it, once you kill a cow, you gotta make a burger... so go watch.

Opps Sunday Bob Fest

Opps here's what I was bobbing to on Sunday.  In case you were wondering what the opps was about, I only inserted this post on Tuesday.  :)  Rock on with Jay Z and yes I was alive when Alphaville was da bomb.

Wait Till You See Me Smile

Just got the new Alicia Keys album (I've always been a huge fan...) and its awesome.  Here's one of the songs that's been on repeat mode... go check her album The Element Of Freedom out.  Definitely a lifter-upper and if there's anything I need right now, is a lift!

Nouvelle Vague

Raise your hands if you love Nouvelle Vague!
Nouvelle Vague is a French musical collective led by musicians Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux. Their name is a play on words, meaning "new wave" in French. This refers simultaneously to their "Frenchness" and "artiness" (the '60s new wave of cult French cinema), the source of their songs (all covers of punk rock,post-punk, and New Wave songs), and their use of '60s bossa nova-style arrangements ("bossa nova" being Portuguese for "new wave").
This one is a remake of Modern English's "I Melt With You".

I'm Sorry, But I Like Them Pussycat Dolls

Yes, its hard to admit, but Doncha' has been playing in my head and on my computer for the past couple of days. Yes, I have been bobbing along, and when no one's around, I sing along too. Yes, I'm sorry. Yes, this goes against my indie/alternative/who the hell are you listening too crap, but damn it, I like them. They are just fucking sexy bitches, especially that Nicole, drool drool drool.

But I guess they're just one of those groups we all actually like listening to but would never admit to it. Its almost a social stigma. And in case you think this goes the same for Britney, no, that one REALLY is a social stigma. Sure, the Pussycat Dolls aren't exactly exeptional musically or otherwise, but damn its just good music to shake your bootie too and it helps that those drop dead gorgeous babes (ok admittedly only Nicole since the rest kinda look like men...) are singing it.
