Our Date with the Empress
Remember how I got tickets for Forbidden City? Well after months of waiting (I bought the tickets in July, the show was in September), we finally went down to the Esplanade last week to catch it.
I had watched the earlier run of it, but this run was still fabulous. It had all the parts I already liked about it, with some interesting new additions. We had the best seats, right smack in the middle and close enough to the stage for me to see Kit Chan's every wince. All in all, I thought it was a remarkable performance.
I'm glad A liked it. A's always been a theatrical sorta person and nothing pleased me more about the entire evening than the fact that A enjoyed it. Since then, I noticed A's been bursting into song and dance far more frequently than usual. (Yes, on normal days, A already occassionally breaks into a song and dance.)
A has been working so hard, it was nice just getting out of the office and the house and dressing up for the theatre. It was something I had been so looking forward to. By six that evening, I was literally lugging A out of the office. I wish we had more time to do these things, to get excited, to dress up and to revel in an evening of song and dance. I need more of a life I really do.
